Discovery - my body wants to heal

Bodies heal, I know this from years of experience. When I cut myself, my skin healed. When I broke my wrists, the bones healed. When I had a cold or flu, I healed. So why not now?

Our bodies want to heal and will keep reminding us of our traumas until we can discover the tools that we need to heal. These reminders are our symptoms. Unfortunately we have, in the most part, not realised the connection between what we are feeling now to what happened then.

To heal is to be made whole. To remember, to realise all that we are. To remember is literally to reintegrate those parts of us that we have abandoned, separated off, repressed from our awareness. To re-member. As disease is dis-ease.

Awareness is key. We need to integrate the traumas that caused us to cut off parts of us that we deemed or were told were unacceptable or the feelings and emotions we were unable to cope with at the time. To accept those parts of us that we were told were unacceptable.

As children, stuff happened, stuff that we couldn't handle and so that part of us has got stuck at the age it first happened, it needs to be helped to grow up and one way is to give the younger you the resources that you lacked at the time. If you were overwhelmed by fear, then giving yourself courage and seeing the incident again knowing you had that courage changes everything.

This changes how you experience your life, you cease to be afraid of the feelings, the experience that you couldn't handle, it becomes integrated, that part grows up and the symptoms disappear.

"When people change energetically, matter follows right along."

Dawson Church, "Mind to Matter" 2018

And as Dawson Church also says, after recounting a story of a woman who healed herself of cancer, “We can heal ourselves as well when we adjust our consciousness to the frequency of healing. The matter of our cells responds to the energy of our consciousness.”

"The implication for healing is that when we change our energy fields, the cells of our material bodies respond"

ibid.

In order to change our minds, to alter our belief systems, obviously we have to know what’s in it and meditation and mindfulness are very useful tools. So is understanding the language of the body. What are your symptoms telling you?

So you can see, it’s not your fault, you were too young, too overwhelmed. No blame, just compassion. And responsibility, to take back our power which we have left behind attached to these traumas.

Unfortunately, well I think so anyway, there is a fixation on things being not my fault. We have developed into a blame everyone else society. Maybe it’s because we have become so litigious so when it is my fault it could cost me money. But to do this makes us into victims.

In this case, it’s not your fault and it’s no one else’s either, it’s just an unfortunate quirk that when bad things happen, we make decisions about them and set up belief systems. We do this when good stuff happens too but beliefs and decisions made from good stuff are good for us. All these decisions and belief systems create our personalities.

It’s school report time, that dreaded time at the end of each term. What is it going to say this time? In fact it doesn’t matter because whatever it says, whatever grades I get, it will not be good enough.

One of my beliefs was I am not good enough, I am never good enough. This puts strain on me to try and try because I need the love and admiration that would result from being good enough, or this is what I tell myself.

Deep down of course I feel a failure, but I don’t know this. I just keep failing or do I? Or is this just the way I see things from my "never be good enough" position.

Whenever we have a belief system running, we filter out everything that doesn’t support our belief. So we can be the most successful person around and still believe we’re not good enough. Daft but true.

How does this make us ill?

"As we know from epigenetics, if the environment signals new genes, and the end product of an experience in the environment is an emotion, you are literally signalling the new genes in new ways. And since all genes make proteins and proteins are responsible for the structure and function of your body (the expression of proteins is the expression of life), you are literally changing your genetic destiny. This suggests that it’s quite possible your body can be healed."

Dr Joe Dispenza in Introduction to Mind to Matter by Dawson Church

"The concept that mind creates matter is not a metaphysical proposition. It’s a biological one."

Dawson Church Mind to Matter 2018

Our environment comprises our surroundings, the stuff we ingest and our internal environment of which our thoughts that arise from our belief systems are a major contributor. Change the way you think and you change your internal environment - big time. Changing the way you think, changes the way you feel.

Dr Alan Watkins illustrates a hierarchy in his Ted talk "Being Brilliant Every Day."

Although Dr Watkins tells it the other way round, it is basically;

our physiology - all the chemical and electrical events ongoing in our bodies give rise to

our emotions - which in turn give rise to

our feelings - which in their turn give rise to out thoughts which cause

our performance and that can be our disease

Discovery - I can change my physiology

I can do this in many ways, I can stop the stress responses through changing my beliefs, I can change my breathing patterns, I can use techniques like hypnosis or EFT. I can "see" my belief systems in a different way, I can "upgrade" my thinking, in a word I can CHANGE.

I am using my mind to heal my body.

Every time I integrated an unresolved issue, I changed. In the early days, I would get a lift and then an upheaval, frequently referred to as a healing crisis. These were usually unpleasant but brief and after I was always better than before the integration.

As issues were resolved, other issues surfaced, rather like skimming fat off the gravy, remove the top layer and that below was able to rise up. At first it felt like I was not improving, just getting other symptoms but it was pointed out to me that the changes meant I was progressing and that indeed, proved to be the case.

In the end I discovered that under it all, under all the negative, destructive feelings, was love.
